Farmhouse Style Mudroom

You know how it is, you find a new piece of furniture and place it in a room and then everything moves! Such was the case with my new farmhouse hutch. It is now in my small dining room which means I need to get rid of/relocate the backer's rack that I was using as a hutch.

Once I have done the work of making over a piece, I have so much trouble selling it... so instead I tried to come up with a new spot for placing my baker's rack in a house that is already too full of furniture.  Sigh.  Then again, I had a stroke of brilliance when I moved it into my back entryway.

Of course the space is a little eclectic now, since I created my garden room on one end of the mudroom and then I threw this baker's rack in there to boot.  Can you feel a mudroom makeover post coming on?  Will this ever end????  lol

Half coastal, half farmhouse, REALLY ECLECTIC, but I love it!

One thing leads to another...  :)

Have a great week!

  2. We call this Playing Musical Chairs with the furniture ... new thing comes in, existing things are shifted around and around until some sense is made of the situation. It generally means that something gets used in a nontraditional way. Your baker's rack in the mudroom is a perfect example.

Don't be sad to sell your creations ... that gives you money to use to add something to your house that you may love even more.

  6. I know how you feel. I just feel in love with something I saw this morning, so now I'm contemplating putting it to a wall at my own house. But one thing will lead to another and another and another.....

  8. I really like it there! It seems perfect for the space and function! I have the same issue; there is only so much a small home can hold.

  14. You're lucky to have some space at your entryway, not usually the case with smaller homes. The bakers rack fit the space perfectly. Love how you personalized the area with your own artwork.
I've got to gut our downstairs bathroom soon after the crappy plastic shower sprung a big leak. I'm going to check your archives from when you re-did yours and hope that reading about it brings me some motivation. Di you just dive in and figure it out as you went along?

  15. Fits perfectly, and if the bakers rack wasn't in that spot, the space would be empty. We can't have that!!

  16. Your use of blues in your artwork in this space makes me smile! I love the metal hooks on your wooden hanger on the one wall, and what a pretty wine crate you have on your baker's rack.

  18. I remember when you made over the baker's rack, and I don't blame you for having a hard time with the idea of selling it! You did such a great job on it! And no, I don't think it ever ends, not if you can help it! That's half the fun! ;-)

  23. We always seem to get stuck in our little ruts of keeping furniture in the same place. This week I started playing around and moved a few furniture pieces. Of course, one thing leads to another and now I need to do some painting!
