I want to live at the beach!!!!!!!

It's no secret, I want a beach house and I fully expect my dream to come true.  In the meantime, I am having fun dreaming my dream - decorating my beach house in my mind (and on Pinterest and Houzz), painting coastal pictures, collecting seashells and vials of sand... Anything that makes the dream feel more real works for me!   If you want to follow my beach dreams, you can check out my Pinterest "Life at the Beach" board HERE.

So in that spirit, I decided to use a piece of bead board paneling as a canvas and I painted a beach scene.  Just a very basic one, but I love it so much!!!

I grew up 5 minutes' walk from a beach so I drew on my memories to come up with this view.  This is a "tide is going out" painting.

I used a glitter craft paint over the top of the water to simulate the sparkles caused by the sun.  Then I added sparkles to parts of the beach as well because some of the sand particles sparkle in the bright sunshine.  I can feel and smell the seaside air when I look at this painting.

Now to figure out where to hang it.

Mmmmmm, can't wait to be there again!   Meanwhile I dream.

Have a great week!

  6. Great job! Pretty colors, Anne, and a wonderful dream.

I don't live near a beach, but when people visit my home for the first time, it reminds them of the beach. I think it's a compliment, because there is nothing overtly "beach" in my home, so the guests must have a warm, relaxed feeling. Good for you, Anne, in creating your inspiration!

  7. I've always wanted to live near water, the beach would be preferable but a lake would do. I hope your dream comes true. I like how you used the beadboard as a canvas.

  12. I, too, dream of the beach! And not a Lake Michigan beach. A real ocean front beach! Love your painting ... it really evokes fond memories for me as well!

  18. Maybe because I grew up on the east coast, I have a great fondness for anything nautical and beachy. Painting your seaside on the beadboard was a terrific idea and really adds to the painting. P.S. I pinned a number of inspirations of your boards. Thanks for the link.

  19. Oh Anne, I gasped when I saw this painting! I need that for my son's bedroom! I love it, and wish I could see it in person with the sparkles in the sand and on the water. I love how you used bead board. It reminds me of the PBTeen surfing photos I mentioned in my recent canvas art post. But I like yours better. :) Can't wait to see where you put it.

  30. Luv this serene seascape. I also think the canvas is perfect for depicting the scenery, gives thought to a boardwalk : )

There are a few select places in my waking dreams where I would be happiest living....not necessarily in this order

#1 In an old stone cottage by the sea in Cape Breton Island, Newfoundland, Atlantic Provinces, British Columbia, Wales, someplace in the UK or Ireland would be lovely and of course Cinque Terre, Genova/ Portofino (my place of birth )

    or

#2 In an old gothic church with leaded glass windows and secret passage ways in a pastoral country setting or even like that British couple /designer who bought a cemeter with a stone gothic stone mortuary ( their living room)....so very hauntingly romantic ...lol I know I'm weird, like my Peter Cushing blog quote says....."You have to have a sense of humour, darling, to be alive, even a bit mad " ; )
