Supreme Bliss, Unending Joy

When you're hot, you're hot and I've been on a painting roll lately.  I've had an image in mind that I very much wanted to capture on canvas; but I've been painting long enough to know that until I'm in the perfect mindset, I should NOT pick up a brush.  Well, that perfect state presented itself yesterday and I am delighted!

Here is my latest and most favourite work to date:

Pointe Aanandha 12x16 Acrylic on canvas

and in its place of honour:

I chose the name Pointe Aanandha for several reasons.  When I was a kid, one of our favourite beaches was called Pointe Lebel and this image reminds me a little of that place.  The word Aanandha is Sanskrit for supreme bliss and unending joy - what better word to describe an idyllic scene?  It is also the way I feel whenever I am in the groove and painting (or doing anything creative for that matter).

Plus it kind of sounds like my name and I like that too!  LOL

Wherever you are and whatever you're doing, I hope you're doing it in a place of supreme bliss.

Cheers!

  1. Beautiful, I know what you mean about being inspired, I can't paint until I feel it, well I can, but it just isn't the same. I love your painting.

  6. This is my favorite of the pieces I've seen of yours too. When you paint scenes like this, do you sit outside and paint what you see or photograph it or go from your imagination. Quite lovely!

  32. I love views of the water. Very nice painting Anne!
P.S. You were asking about the textured photos. It is done in Photoshop by superimposing textures on pictures. Then you adjust the blending mode, often the opacity and erase here and there with a soft brush. It is great fun and I love doing it (as you can probably tell). If you ever have a few images that you would like to have texturized I would be happy to do it for you.
