Scrap Wood Welcome Home Sign

I saw a cute sign on Pinterest and HAD to have one!  I thought I could recreate it and I did come close...  Who knew dandelion seeds were so difficult to paint?!   Here's how I put my own version together.

So I saw a  beautiful sign on Pinterest from Teal Elephant Boutique and wanted to create my own version.  It didn't turn out so well...

I had some pressure treated plywood scraps kicking around so I cut them down to the size I wanted to work with.  I attached them together by nailing two crosspieces of the same material across the back of the boards.

Then I attempted to recreate the dandelion image to no avail.  OMG what a mess!!!  There's a real art to painting those seedlings...  When the dandelion thing fell apart on me, I sanded it off and went with a much bigger quote and the super easy daisy image.  So there!  maybe I should have done Dorothy's shoes instead but the red rubies just weren't part of my colour scheme.

I kinda like it anyway.  It's crooked and quirky and eclectic - just like me!

And here's another sneak peek at my new front porch.  Full reveal coming up on the blog soon!

Cheerio!

  1. That is cute! I think being inspired by a sign, and then doing your own thing, is better than copying!
